Fallen Timber Bridge Install #4- Completed September 2007

Big thank you to all the volunteers who came out for the fourth and last of the 80 foot bridge installs, this time in Fallen Timber - Waiparous. It was another great success!

Just over 25 volunteers enjoyed a sun filled day of hard work! A new section of trail was cut to access the bridge. Thank you to the Calgary Quad Squad for providing a great lunch for the volunteers to enjoy, and to Amanda for cooking it up!

These bridges take more then just one weekend to prepare. Often times it takes at least two to three months for a crew of people to organize and prep the construction site then gather materials and volunteers. Machinery, tools and transportation for the them also needs to be coordinated by project leaders and volunteers.

Special thank you to Garry Salekin for organizing materials, machinery and heading up this project!

Thankfully SRD was able to provide $20,000 towards the installation of the four bridges!

Because of all the volunteers, not only did we finish the bridge, but also completed both fencing projects in Hunter Valley!!

A special thank you goes to the following:

Ken at the CAT Rental Store in Calgary
for special rates on equipment rentals
Alberta Sustainable Resources Development
Calgary Jeep Association
Calgary Quad Squad
Second Gear Club
Alberta Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture
And the independent users
