Peter Lougheed - Sept 9 2008 Work began on Canyon Trail in the Elbow at 0915 to help armour the pond about 50m down from the culvert work that was completed last month. This was done to help stabilize the bank. The pathway was then re-contoured and levelled. Two wet spots where springs were discharging onto the pathway were fixed with small trenches. Future work there might include installing more culverts to assist areas affected by water. There were 5 volunteers and a crew leader that participated in this project. All the volunteers came out from the Senior’s Outdoor Club and Tim Giese acted as the crew leader. Congratulations everyone on a job well done! Unfortunately the second bank project couldn’t be got to because of lack of time and accessible materials like gravel and large rocks. No injuries occurred and the tools made it through the day unscathed as well. The project wrapped up around 1345 and the volunteers who participated should be commended for their efforts. This was a tough job.
