Trail Maintenance Days

This area is a designated FLU Zone and regulations are in place.

Stewardship Days 2008 at the Hummingbird was an outstanding success!

Update from the BHAS:

Mother Nature was cooperative. There were up to 47 members sign in over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Canary, Ram Viewpoint, Pleasant Valley, Hummingbird and Onion Lake Trails were assessed on July 1st. From then on teams were assigned to different trails to perform the necessary maintenance, erosion repairs and grooming. The major event was scheduled for Saturday. This project was to repair and improve the far end of the Onion Lake Trail. Approximately 350m.of the trail needed culverts to improve the natural drainage. The ground was soft and/ or wet in this low area. Fabric and fill was placed using quads, trailers and man power. Most of the work was completed by 5:00 P.M. The remainder was completed on Sunday.

Parkland Sled & ATV ( Red Deer) and B.H.A.S. supplied Saturday’s crew with a Barbecue and all the fixings. Sponsors supplied door prizes. No one went home emptied handed!

Those that could, moved onto the Bighorn Dam on the Monday, July7th., to do the necessary work on those trails.

A huge thank-you to all that attended!
